Connecting coastal and rural communities for a sustainable future
“From Sea to Land” is a social innovation project that unites young people and seniors from Lavra, Matosinhos, to tackle environmental, social, and cultural challenges. Focused on the blue and circular economy, environmental education, and sustainable tourism, the project promotes collaborative solutions that strengthen the link between tradition and innovation, revitalizing local communities.
A vibrant space for co-creation, impact and innovation
Results that make a difference
Tangible impact: 219 active participants from 12 local organizations, 16 workshops held, and 538 people engaged in the Community Co-creation process — three solutions co-created using a community impact model, aligned with local needs and available resources. A journey made up of sharing knowledge about the sea, new ideas for sustainable products, blue tourism experiences, creative workshops with the local community, and artistic installations that educate on the importance of co-creating sustainable impact opportunities.
Stories of transformation: Where the ocean meets the community, change is born. From Sea to Land is a movement that unites generations, promotes sustainable impact, and breathes new life into Lavra’s natural and human resources. Young people and elders co-created solutions for a more sustainable future, transforming local challenges into concrete opportunities for social and environmental impact.
